Snowmobiling Info 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Some people have expressed some interest in the snowmobiling info around Atlantic Canada. I'll try to keep posting as I gather more information, but, for now, here's some stuff I found out about New Brunswick trails. If anyone has anything to add, please do!

New Brunswick's snowiest area is in the north of the province, around the Acadian Peninsula and the area defined by Campbellton, Edmundston, Bathurst and Miramichi - so be sure to look into these areas for some great trails.

Check out the New Brunswick Snowmobile Society. They are currently selling trail permits and it looks like there are still some great deals going on. Remember, Trail Permits aren't required to participate in this closed-course event. But, all other legal requirements need to be met in order to take your snowmobile off your private property!

Also, be sure to check out Snowarama 2008!
If you're in New Brunswick, stop by Mactaquac Provincial Park, Saturday, February 16. It's for a great cause and there will be lots of snowmobile enthusiasts there!

Good info here. Where can I see some package options for snowmobiling that may include the rental, accommodations and meals? Would New Brunswick or Nova Scotia have better options?

Hi Williamrado!

I wish I had joined the forum sooner so I could have responded to your post. Now that it is Springtime, the opportunities for snowmobiling melt away with the snow.

As far as the difference between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, you will find that New Brunswick offers more snowmobiling trails than in Nova Scotia. In fact, snow is known as White Gold in New Brunswick because snowmobiling is so popular. Stephanie mentioned that the northern part of the province, towards to Quebec and Maine borders, is the snowiest. She is right.

Nova Scotia and coastal New Brunswick do not have as much snow accumulation, in part due to the saltiness in the air, and warmer temperatures. However, once you get north of Fredericton, the ocean plays less of a role and the snow build up is much more noticeable. It is not uncommon to spot snowmobile enthusiasts from the highway.

I have not been on a snowmobile for a number of years, but it is one of my favorite Wintertime activities. I hope you get an opportunity to come to Atlantic Canada soon.
