Ajax, Ontario is a slice of heaven here on earth. The history of Ajax is everywhere - as close as the nearest street sign!
Most of the streets in Ajax are named after the crew and officers of the HMS Ajax, the World War II Royal Navy ship after which the Town is named. Our main street, Harwood Ave., is named for Commodore Henry H. Harwood, commander of a flotilla of British warships.
Take a walk along our scenic waterfront. Out Lake Ontario waterfront is the longest undeveloped waterfront in the Toronto area. Visit one of Ajax’s five golf courses, or spend a day at the Greenwood Conservation Area, an area located in the northern portion of the Town, ideal for nature lovers. Spend the day at Pickering Village, a historic shopping environment. Take your time and browse the numerous shops, specialty boutiques and gourmet restaurants. Feeling lucky? Head down to The Slots, our newest gaming facility or to the Ajax Downs, the Province’s only quarter horse race track.
