Overview of Wild Goose Lodge

Wild Goose Lodge is the perfect place to have a family vacation. The Lodge crowns a 6-acre hilltop site of groomed land in the tiny fishing village of French River off of Route 20, located on the Island's north shore. The Lodge's sturdy two-story, cedar round-log construction, houses six independent fully equipped house keeping units (five - 2 bedroom and one - 3 bedroom unit). The second floor lounging area opens onto a spacious open air sun-deck commanding a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Located right at the French River Wharf, The Wharf contains fully equipped 2 bedroom housekeeping units and a 3-piece bath. Picnic tables and propane barbecues are onsite. These units are only minutes to lovely, quiet, white sand beaches and within ten miles of major attractions and amenities. Golf Packages Available! Go to the western end of P.E.I. and experience Mill River and “enjoy†the never-ending doglegs and be sure to let us know if you find a level green! A fun course to play and a true test of golf! After conquering Mill River, why not head to the Cavendish area where you will find a few challenges as you golf some o the finest courses in PEI. Prince Edward Island’s major resort area is in and around the community of Cavendish. Cavendish has four of the Islands best courses in Green Gables, Glasgow Hills, Eagles Glenn and, Anderson’s Creek. All are top-notch courses comparable to any found on the Island. After you have finished these courses you can start heading to the eastern end of the island where you will find more of our best courses. Start by spending a day on the challenging majestic Brudenell Golf course.

Wild Goose Lodge Rooms

Wild Goose Lodge is a two-story log building with a 4-star Canada Select rating. The charming and traditional-style hunting lodge includes five 2-bedroom deluxe housekeeping style units and one 3-bedroom deluxe housekeeping unit. Three two bedroom units are on the lodge's first floor. Whether you've come for Goose or Duck hunting, or just to enjoy the beautiful surrounding area and all that PEI has to offer, you'll find Wild Goose lodge has everything you want.

Each unit consists of a master bedroom with a queen size bed with twin size beds in the other bedroom. Each unit has a queen hide-a-bed and a folding single bed, a tastefully appointed living room area, with a 25 inch colour TV, a fully equipped kitchen and full bath and shower. There are two housekeeping units on the wharf in French village with three piece baths and full kitchens. Laundry facilities are available.

A common room on the second floor of the lodge has a 42 inch plaza satellite TV, VCR and a DVD player. The common room opens on to a 16x60 sun deck with a panoramic view of French Village and the surrounding countryside.

Barbeques and picnic tables are available to guests and wood is provided for bon fires in fire pits. There is plenty of room to wander the six acre site or to take advantage of the hunting lodge’s recreational activities . White sand beaches with the warmest water north of the Carolinas are within easy walking distance. And of course, the finest Goose and Duck hunting PEI has to offer.

Wild Goose Lodge Amenities:
  • The Lodge offers five, 2 bedroom units. Each unit offers two double or queen beds, a sofabed and a single folding bed. Each unit offers a full private bath, living room area and a kitchenette with coffee maker and microwave. There are no telephones in the guest units. Pay phone on site.
  • Two lovely beaches, the Yankee Hill Beach which is 1 mile away from the hotel and the Cousins Shore Beach which is about 2 miles away from the hotel
  • Lots of recreational facilities available like swings, horseshoe pits, volleyball, 6.5 acres of private ground

We are located within ten miles of such famous island attractions as: Woodleigh Replicas, Burlington Amusement Park, Rainbow Valley (the most fun for your kids and great value), Sand Spit, Anne of Green Gables Museum (just a mile up the road), and many others.

Directions


Driving Directions to Wild Goose Lodge:
  • Confederation Bridge to Lodge:

    Take HWY 1 towards Summerside and stay on it until you connect with Hwy 2 to Kensington (approx. 15 miles).
    In Kensington go straight through the only set of traffic lights.
    After the lights take an almost immediate left turn unto Hwy 101, which extends for approx. 7 miles and then meets Rte. 20.
    Turn east (right) unto Rte. 20 and travel approx. 2 miles until you enter the village of French River.
    At the village intersection, turn left unto the River Road, which ends at the Cape Road in less than a mile.
    Turn left unto the Cape Road and Wild Goose Lodge is the first property on the left, approx. 1/2 mile up the road. It is well signed and the civic address is 292 Cape Road.

  • Charlottetown Airport to Lodge:

    Go straight approx .5 mile upon exiting airport.
    Turn right unto Rte 2 and travel approx. 25 miles to the intersection of Rtes 2 and 8 at Norboro (there is a large Roman Catholic church at intersection).
    Turn right unto Rte. 8 and travel 4 miles to the intersection of Rtes 8 and 6 at New London.
    Go straight through intersection and Rte 8 then becomes Rte 20 and stay on Rte 20 until you enter French River, four miles down the road.
    Turn right unto the River Road and then left unto the Cape Road. The lodge is approx. 1/2 mile on the left and is well signed. The civic address is 292 Cape Road

  • Wood Island Ferry to Lodge:

    Take Hwy 1 to Charlottetown, approx a 45 minute drive.
    As soon as you cross the causeway entering the city, turn right unto Riverside Drive (just before a Wendy's/Tim Horton's Restaurant).
    You are now on a city bypass route that after going through four traffic lights, will take you to Rte 2.
    Refer to above directions from Airport to Lodge for the rest of the route.
